Worum geht es?

In den meisten Management-Ratgebern wird vor allem das „Was“ und „Wie“ von Führung behandelt, während die Frage nach dem „Wer“ oft unbeachtet bleibt.

In einer aktuellen Studie der University of Chicago zeigt sich, dass die Kompetenzen von Führungskräften in den letzten Jahren signifikante Veränderungen erfahren haben. Über einen Zeitraum von fast zwei Jahrzehnten (2001-2019) wurden die Fähigkeiten von fast 5.000 Führungskräften in den Bereichen CEO, CFO und COO analysiert.

Die Ergebnisse sind deutlich:

• Ein Rückgang der allgemeinen Führungsfähigkeit nach der Finanzkrise 2008
• Weniger zwischenmenschliche Fähigkeiten, mehr Fokus auf Ausführung und Analyse
• Eine stärkere Detailorientierung, dafür ein Rückgang kreativer und strategischer Kompetenzen

Diese Trends spiegeln sich auch in den Herausforderungen wider, vor denen heutige Führungskräfte stehen. Dazu gehören:

• Ein unsicheres, sich schnell veränderndes Geschäftsumfeld
• Die Notwendigkeit, eine integrierte Strategie zu entwickeln, die sowohl das Unternehmen als auch die Führungskräfte berücksichtigt
• Die Fähigkeit, den Führungsstil flexibel anzupassen und Resilienz zu entwickeln

Trotz zahlreicher Managementmethoden bleibt jedoch oft ein blinder Fleck: die innere Verfassung der Führungskraft.

Angesichts der heutigen Herausforderungen – wie rasch wechselnder Marktbedingungen, großer Unsicherheiten und einem Mangel an qualifizierten Fachkräften – wird es immer entscheidender, diese Lücke zu schließen.
